To be eligible for the PMP you must meet one of the following conditions for education and experience:
- Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)
- 7,500 hours leading and directing projects
- 35 hours of project management education
OR
- Four-year degree
- 4,500 hours leading and directing projects
- 35 hours of project management education
- Computer-based Testing (CBT) and paper-based Testing (PBT)
- Exam time: 4 hours.
- Exam length: 180 multiple-choice questions
- Language: English
- Testing for the PMP is available year-round, subject to availability at the Prometric testing center of your choice.

Your PMP certification is valid for three years after testing. To maintain your PMP credential, you must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) from PMI over a three-year time span or retake the exam.
